Spring Creek Charter Academy Seeking Start-Up Principal


Spring Creek Charter Academy is a new charter school opening in fall of 2019 seeking a start-up Principal.  This is an exciting opportunity for a strong leader who enjoys a challenge and building programs and relationships from the ground-up.

Spring Creek will open in fall of 2019 with grades K-5 and add one grade level per year until 12th grade. The school is a public Commission Charter School based on the successful model of Pataula Charter Academy in Edison, GA. The school will serve students in Decatur, Miller, and Seminole counties. The location for the new school has not yet been determined, but will be in one of the counties served. For more information on the school’s educational model, visit www.pataula.net.

Spring Creek is seeking a Principal to help plan, start, and lead the new charter school.  Ideally, the administrator would work at Pataula Charter Academy for the remainder of the 2018-2019 school year to learn the model and help plan the new school. The administrator would then be Principal of the new school to open in fall 2019.  If the administrator is unable to leave his/her current employment for this school year, a plan would have to be created for the administrator to be involved in training and planning. 

Qualifications: GAPSC teaching certification required; Master’s or Specialist’s Degree in Educational Leadership preferred; GAPSC Educational Leadership certification preferred

Experience: Teaching experience with a proven track record of high performance required; building-level administration experience with a proven track record of high performance preferred; experience opening a new school or starting a new program preferred

Salary and Benefits: PCA uses the GA DOE state salary schedule; administration supplement based on experience; PCA contributes to Georgia TRS, offers State Health Benefit Plan insurance, and offers optional, supplemental group insurance and 403b plans

Expectations include: 12 month employee; Support district-wide vision, mission and academic goals; effective and appropriate communication/relationship with all stakeholders; self-driven and motivated to achieve excellence in all aspects of his/her job responsibilities; ability to multi-task and efficiently handle multiple work streams at one time; detail-oriented and conscientious of deadlines and compliance guidelines; knowledge and understanding of charter school law, federal education laws, applicable state laws and State Board Rules; knowledge and ability to implement leadership and teaching best practices; excellent oral and written communication skills.
