My name is Mrs. Kathy Thornton. I received my bachelor's degree (In Early Childhood Education) from the Unsinkable Albany State University in 2000. I received my master's degree (in Elementary Education) from Troy University in 2006. I have been teaching for 19 years. Throughout my teaching career, I have had the opportunity to teach the following grades: 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th. Before getting the 4th-grade position at PCA, I had the honor of teaching in Walton County, DeKalb County, and Randolph County. I have also received the title Teacher of the Year in Walton County and Teacher of the Year as well as District Teacher of the Year for Randolph County. I am a third generation educator, have an obvious passion for making a difference in the lives of my students, and I take great pride in providing the best learning opportunities for my students. Also, I currently serve as Head Varsity Cheerleader Coach.
I have been married for almost 18 yrs (anniversary on December 23rd). I have four children and one grandson; Shakeria (attends University of West GA), Brian II (Sophomore and Dual Enrollment Student), Byron (Freshmen), Brianna (6th Grade) and Remington (grandson). Lastly, I am serve as Youth Advisor and Choir Director at Antioch Baptist Church (located in Cuthbert, GA).
