Coach Mauldin

Coach Zach Mauldin is in his third year at PCA.  He is from Lenox, Georgia (Cook County) and currently lives just outside of Fort Gaines.  He is a 2003 Honor Graduate of Cook High School in Adel, Georgia.  After high school he attended Abraham Baldwin College in Tifton, Georgia and completed his  Bachelor of Science from Troy State University.  He also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Valdosta State University.   Coach Mauldin teaches HS Weight Training and Health, serves as Athletic Director, and is also the head softball and head baseball coach for the high school teams.  
 
Coach Mauldin has over 12 years experience in coaching.  From 2007-2014 he served as an assistant baseball coach at his alma-mater, Cook High, working on GDC Hall of Famer Bob Owsley's coaching staff for four seasons as well as Cleve Edwards's staff for four more seasons.  During his tenure at Cook he was a member of three region championship teams, three Final Four teams, and the 2010 AA State Runner-Up team.  He worked in Turner County from 2016-2018 and was an assistant in baseball in 2017 under David Sims and was the head coach of the Rebels in 2018.  He was also the head softball coach at Turner in 2017.  In 2018, Coach Mauldin came to PCA and led the Lady Panthers softball team to a 12-11 record, their second winning season in program history.  His first baseball season as head coach at PCA saw the Panthers achieve their first winning season in school history with a 17-11 record.  Their 17 wins was a 12 win improvement from the previous season and also set a single season record in the young program's history.  His 2020 baseball squad was 7-5 and sitting in the top 24 of the GHSA playoff power rankings before Covid-19 ended their 2020 run.  The Fall of 2020, Mauldin's Lady Panthers softball squad finished with a record of 16-8, a Region 1A Runner-Up finish, and advanced to the GHSA State Playoffs for the first time in school history.
