I attended college at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia, where I earned my Bachelor's in Middle Grades Education. I am certified in Science, Math, and ELA. I am currently pursuing my Master's in Middle Grades Math and Science through Valdosta State University. Currently, I also coach Middle and High School cheerleading. I have a passion for teaching and hands-on learning. Additionally, I find the middle school age group the most rewarding to teach.

I married in September of 2012, and I now have a son. I adore my family. If you asked my previous students to describe me, they would tell you I love to sing and that I am weird and goofy. I believe learning can be fun, and you have to get on the kids level and meet them where they are to reach them and inspire the motivation to learn!

I earned my BA in History and my Masters in Public Administration from Albany State University. I earned my certification in Reading, ELA and Social Studies by utilizing a non-traditional program (TAPP) through the Georgia Charter School Association. I am married and we have 3 children. My favorite hobby is spending time with my family. I am an avid reader and I love sharing that passion in my classes where I strive to help students discover the joys of reading.  I also believe it is important for students to explore and understand the culture and history of the world around us, and how it relates to us today. My goal is to guide students into becoming lifelong learners and informed, effective citizens.

I was born and raised in Cairo, Georgia. I graduated with honors from Cairo High School in 2007. I went on to attend Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College from 2007-2009. I later transferred to Valdosta State University where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology in 2012. Upon graduation, I worked at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia for a year and a half as the Clinical Exercise Specialist. I discovered my passion for children while helping coach middle school baseball.

During my spare time I enjoy hunting, fishing, and various other outdoor activities. I look forward to getting to know all of you this school year.

I have been working at Pataula Charter Academy since its opening in 2010 and have taught grades 4-7. Currently, I am teaching 7th grade math and science.  I have earned a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Albany State and I am certified to teach K-5 and 6-8 math and science.  My husband, Layton, and I live in Edison with our two kids, Haley and Samuel.  Together we love spending time fishing, swimming, and going places together.  When I’m not teaching or on the go with the family, I love to curl up with a good book.
